Allegorical Painting of St. Michael

Under the painting of Thomas Becket is an Allegorical painting which although reasonably well preserved is currently hidden behind wood paneling in the Chapel. The scene is dominated by a figure of St. Michael standing amidst a scroll containing the verses of the poem Earthe oute of erth. One each side is an architectural border, and below two men point out another scroll over the body of a shrouded corpse placed as if it were in a grave surrounded by other bones.
